The seven Chakras; each Chakras  governs specific parts of the physical body and areas of the mind & spirit. Chakras are located deep within the center of the physical body next to a hormonal gland along the spinal column. Chakras draw vital energy from within and around to the physical glands and organs throughout the body and bloodstream specific to obtaining optimum health and well being.

Chakras are the sacred centers within that carry us on our journey toward greater awareness empowerment and aliveness. As the 2013-04-21_11-47-29_814architecture of the soul, they provide an important map for our wholeness and transformation, both personally and globally. As an ancient spiritual system, they show the path to enlightenment and integration.

Chakras are considered to be interrelated and affect one another, therefore achieving optimum balance of these Chakras provides a state of total well being emotionally and physically. Often Chakras are  be influenced by negative thoughts that  negatively affect the balance of the chakras and its ability to function correctly leading them to become inflamed and blocked.

chakra tuning:
helps heal the body and enliven the energy centers. We can tune all of the chakras with: movement, sound, Reiki, meditation and more.
It’s also useful to focus on a single chakra related to our body and  emotional difficulty we may be experiencing.chakra-yantras-402x512

For example, if we have a reproductive concern which causes us to feel emotional, either anger or sadness, we would focus on the second chakra.

Why Do We Meditate? Here Are Five Good Reasons:

Practitioners of meditation have touted the benefits for hundreds of year and now science is starting to catch on, a wealth of new studies have been done on the benefits of meditation. We all know that meditation reduces stress, depression and anxiety as well as physical symptoms like cardiovascular disorders, chronic pain, substance abuse, and dermatological disorders.

We know all of those benefits but science is discovering surprising new gifts meditation has to give to our bodies and souls.

It Increases Concentration

Long-term meditators demonstrate greater attention capabilities. It seems that the more you meditate the better the effects are. Studies conclude that meditation results in improvements in aspects of intelligence, school grades, learning ability, and short- and long-term recall.

It Increases Cognitive Abilities

One hundred fifty-four Chinese high school students were randomized into a meditation group and a napping group. The meditation group demonstrated significantly increased practical intelligence, creativity, and speed of information processing, as well as decreased anxiety compared to the napping group. The study was later replicated and the results confirmed on another group of one hundred and eighteen Chinese children. The results did not stop there however; when the researchers followed up six months later the meditation group was still showing greater cognitive abilities, leading researcher to believe that the benefits of meditation are long-term.

It Helps Improve Personal Growth

Research finds that meditators with more experience reported themselves to be more confident, relaxed, satisfied, conscientious and less anxious than their less experienced peers.

It Increases Empathy and Decreases Anxiety and Depression

A study on 78 medical and premedical students, held during the student’s stressful exam period, showed increased levels of empathy and decreased levels of anxiety and depression.

It Helps Us Find Self-Actualization in Stressful Times

In the same study as the one noted above, the meditation group scored significantly higher on a measure of spiritual experience. The results were again replicated when the control group received the same treatment.

According to the study, these practices are used as interventions for: cardiovascular disorders, reduction of psychological distress, and reduction of medical symptoms. The research suggests that meditation may be an effective intervention for: cardiovascular disease, chronic pain, anxiety,  panic disorder, substance abuse, dermatological disorders, reduction of psychological distress and symptoms of distress for cancer patients.

It is time, lovely and courageous women, to take a moment and start working on meditation. It is clearly beneficial to start  meditating. Taking ten minutes out of your day will give you all these wonderful benefits. If you have never tried meditation before it might seem dull or confusing, but take some time to give it a try. “Studies show that meditation has positive effects on a person’s happiness and positive emotions, on physiology, stress, cognitive abilities and physical health, as well as on other harder-to-assess attributes, like self-actualization and moral maturity,” ~ Sonja Lyubomirsky, “The How of Happiness”
